Trade Issues Put Heat on Reagan
Article Abstract:
The trade policy of President Reagan is under pressure during the election year. Businessmen and Democrats want an immediate response to their foreign trade problems regarding the over-valued dollar and the trade deficit. Economic forecasters place the trade deficit at a higher figure in 1985. The business-industrial sector is alarmed over the trade deficit. The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is lobbying for a solution to the dollar problem and a cut in the budget deficit. NAM feels that Reagan proposals for controls are overkill.

Bulk Mailers Seek Improved Service
Article Abstract:
Direct mail advertisers are providing the Postal Service with proposals to increase reliability of third class mail delivery service. One idea is the creation of a new mail subclass in which bulk mailers could obtain first class service. The cost for the new service would be less than current third class costs. Another idea would provide third class mailers with mail forwarding service. A third proposal is a list screening service to eliminate undeliverable addresses.
