Trafalgar House: not the ideal solution
Article Abstract:
Trafalgar House is negotiating the sale of Ideal Homes, its housebuilding arm, to Persimmon. Beazer had been seeking to acquire Ideal Homes and has claimed that Trafalgar shareholders may not get the best deal if Ideal goes to Persimmon. Other UK construction firms are also interested in Ideal, and they include Redrow.Persimmon could rank among the UK's major housebuilders if it acquires Persimmon, but Beazer may petition the shareholders of Trafalgar on this issue.

Kvaerner waits for a nod from Trafalgar
Article Abstract:
Kvaerner may bid for Trafalgar House if the board of Trafalgar recommends the bid. Kvaerner has previously failed in a hostile bid for Amec. Trafalgar lost 321 million pounds sterling in 1995. The response of Hong Kong Land, which holds a 26% stake in Trafalgar, will be an important factor in determining whether the bid is affected. It is not clear whether Kvaerner will offer shares or cash, and the form of the offer may also determine whether it is accepted.
