Transportation of the Drosophila element mariner into the chicken germ line
Article Abstract:
The transposable element mariner was initially isolated from Drosophila mauritiana. The 1.3 kb element mariner is flanked by 28 bp imperfect and indirect repeats. It encodes a transposase enzyme, a single protein that catalyzes its transposition. Mariner is believed to be a potential vector for the transformation of a wide range of organisms. A method for transgenic chicken production has been developed. It entails DNA microinjection into the cytoplasms of germinal discs in chick zygotes. During the early stages of embryo development, injected DNA constructs are persistent. Several adaptations of the method for making transgenic chickens have been studied in an attempt to increase the chromosomal integration frequency of gene constructs. that have been put into the chicken zygote.

Genotyping of dinucleotide tandem repeats by MALDI mass spectrometry of ribozyme-cleaved RNA transcripts
Article Abstract:
There is a method for the high-throughput typing of short tandem repeat polymorphisms. It involves the genotyping of dinucleotide tandem repeats, by matrix-assisted laser-desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI), of RNA transcripts that are ribozyme-cleaved.
