Trimmed down Chiron pitches cancer genomics
Article Abstract:
Chiron has announced a cancer genomics program. A spokesperson for the Emeryville, CA-based company stated that Chiron wants to involve pharmaceutical companies in the development of small molecule lead compounds. The spokesperson also stated that each tissue sample Chiron examines is used to generate expression libraries of about 400,000 clones and has found about 6,700 novel genes during an eight-month period.
