USPS puts on the PRESS to track mail complaints; response time expected to decrease
Article Abstract:
The US Postal Service (USPS) is currently fine-tuning a new system for tracking complaints regarding second-class mail matter. Called Publication Research Efficiency Support System (PRESS), the new program establishes a direct computer link between the USPS and publishers and is designed to bring down response time to a mere 72 hours. USPS officials state that PRESS is not only efficient but is also less costly that the agency's existing Publications Watch program, which costs some $2 million annually and has a three- to nine-month response time.
