Under the influence of glamour
Article Abstract:
There should be investment opportunities in traded options in 2000, though there will be high risk levels and a need to assess ways of controlling risk. There should be further price increases for internet and technology stocks, while a number of stocks have stayed behind. Domestic and global expansion should help corporate profits in 2000, while interest rates look set to rise, so equities appear more expensive. The FTSE index could reach near 7400 in late 2000, nearing that level by summer 2000 and moving little thereafter.

A worried bull
Article Abstract:
Investors involved in traded options should assess whether they should take profits. There are a number of factors that may be worrying, such as deflation. Interest rates are falling because of the development of deflation, and deflation puts corporate profits under pressure for companies that have little pricing power. Investors could be affected by reports of poor corporate results. There is also concern that Wall Street is influenced by a small number of stocks, and it is not certain that the United Kingdom stock market would resist serious problems in the US market.
