Unlocking hidden assets
Article Abstract:
The management of intellectual property (IP) was an issue for the legal departments and the boardrooms and was recognized by many companies who realized that IP had value and intangible assets needed to be protected, nurtured and exploited in the marketplace. It was observed that once the benefits and risks were properly recognized, companies could unlock unhidden value in patents, trademarks and copyrights that they own.

Taking IT seriously
Article Abstract:
Several companies are incorporating IT for business development, but it continues to be managed as a back office, administrative function, with no real importance given on the board and minimal integration in the business. Initiatives on standards, trust and value systems with respect to IT investments need to be implemented for effective integration of IT in business.
