Variations on a theme
Article Abstract:
Themed investments are a new trend which includes single-theme funds and the newer global-themed funds. The geographic breakdown is not as important as the theme, and the themes are derived from major global economic trends. Themes selected by Sarasin include information technology, energy demand, and European restructuring. Not all investment managers are convinced that themed investment is a better approach than more traditional approaches. Supporters include Guinness Flight Hambro, which sees themed investment as likely to encourage diversification.
