Venture capital trusts: VCTs take the plunge
Article Abstract:
UK venture capital trusts (VCTs) were launched in Sep 1995. They are unlikely to raise as much in funds as hoped by the UK chancellor, who has forecast 2.5 billion pounds sterling after three years. Investors benefit from capital gains exemptions and roll-over relief. Venture capital investements involve risk, and investors are also faced with illiquidity. The three initial VCTs have raised 41.5 million pounds sterling from an 80 million pounds total target.
