We Need Functional Doctrine
Article Abstract:
Joint-service interoperability among the U.S. armed services requires a functional component doctrine that is based on coordination of information systems. The lack of interoperability has been viewed as a critical vulnerability since 1993's Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada demonstrated fundamental problems in coordinating armed services actions and equipment.

The First Yale Unit, which has its roots in the pre-World War I era, made history in the U.S. Navy by becoming the first aerial coast patrol. The unit, which included twelve original members from Yale University, produced some of the most renowned military leaders.
