Web proofing service promises print sale increase
Article Abstract:
E-Prints was created by former magazine editor Abe Dane and brother Mike to combine Internet technology and photography. The service allows participants to see various photos through the Internet. All they need is just Internet connection and a browser to call up digital images of their event on the E-Prints site. To get the photos online, customers need a lab offering ProShots or other scanning services. A computer disk of images is then sent to E-Prints. The images can be viewed on any browser including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Compuserve and Prodigy browsers. The images are stored on the E-Prints site for 6 weeks, after which customers have to pay a fee to keep the images on the site.

Usage still low, but market potential to develop over time
Article Abstract:
The Internet, which has been refashioned as on online mall, library, bank and stores, is now being used as a photo album. However, according to the 1997 DIMA Consumer Digital Imaging Survey, home computer users are not very keen in having their photos stored in the Internet because it will require them to have their own scanner, their own printer and their own software to manipulate these images. They were more interested in getting their images through a digital camera or a floppy disk or CD-ROM returned from a photofinisher. Internet photo services is still not very popular compared to digital cameras and Photo CD.
