Investors sleep tight
Article Abstract:
UK stockbrokers can buy policies from a US company called Asset Guaranty which protect clients if the company go bankrupt. The UK Investors Compensation Scheme only offers limited compensation with a 48,000 pounds sterling cap. There has also been concern over whether investors using nominee accounts would be covered by the scheme. Asset Guaranty carries out thorough checks before providing cover, and has sold policies to two UK brokers.
