Why silence is not an option
Article Abstract:
The Food and Drug Administration and the US Department of Agriculture held a joint press conference in 2006 to announce that they had been notified by Bayer CropScience that trace amounts of an herbicide-resistant genetically engineered rice, LL Rice 601, was detected in commercial long-grain rice. Both the US agencies concluded that there was no human health, food safety or environmental concerns associated with LL Rice 601 and hence no extensive research was conducted regarding the incident.
