Work-related problems in metal handling tasks in Bangladesh: obstacles to the development of safety and health measures
Article Abstract:
Metal-handling practices of metal workers in Bangladesh that could contribute or lead to musculoskeletal and psychosocial disorders were identified. Criticisms were brought up to raise international awareness on the importance of ergonomics in occupational health and safety. These include observations on the poor working conditions and environments, work schedules, wage systems and climatic conditions. Also noted were the workers' exposure to psychosomatic problems, stress and musculoskeletal wear.
