Companies' financial secrets stay hidden
Article Abstract:
UK companies tend to publish little information on their pension funds. Pension fund surpluses have been declining, and decisions on contributions tend not to be announced to shareholders who thus do not know how prudent companies are being in this area. The UK Accounting Standards Board is seeking comments to formulate new proposals on disclosure requirements. Greater disclosure was noted in 1994 but this improvement has not gone far enough.
