Adsorption of n-Hexane in Zeolite-5A: A temperature-programmed desorption and IR-spectroscopic study
Article Abstract:
The adsorption and desorption of n-hexane over Zeolite-5A is investigated as a function of loading using simultaneous Fourier transform infrared (FTIR)-temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) measurements. The TPD profiles show a second peak developing at lower temperatures when loading exceeds 16 hexane molecules per Zeolite-5A unit cell or two molecules per alpha-activity of the Zeolite-5A structure.

Intensities of C-H IR stretching bands of ethane and propane adsorbed by zeolites as a new spectral criterion of their chemical activation via polarization resulting from stretching of chemical bonds
Article Abstract:
Polarization of ethane and propane resulting from adsorption of these hydrocarbons by protons and different cations in mordenite, ZSM-5 and Y zeolite was studied by diffuse reflection Fourier transform IR spectroscopy (DRIFTS). This effect is most clearly evident for adsorbed molecules strongly perturbed through interaction with bivalent alkaline earth or zinc cations.

On the difficulties of predicting the adsorption of volatile organic compounds at low pressures in microporous solid: The example of ethyl benzene
Article Abstract:
Adsorption isotherms of toulene and ethyl benzene were determined in two microporous activated carbons and one zeolite which indicated significant differences. The results were interpreted in terms of ethyl benzene conformation effects when the molecule is confined in pores that are about the same size of one of the conformations.
