An investigation into the mechanisms of DNA strand breakage by direct ionization of variably hydrated plasmid DNA
Article Abstract:
A comparison between the chemical yield of DNA-trapped free radicals and the chemical produce of DNA single strand break (ssb) and double strand break (dsb), as a function of hydration (T) is done to determine the mechanisms by which ionization radiation directly causes strand breaks in DNA. A new strand break mechanism in which the strand breaks are yielded by two one-electron oxidations at a single, deoxyribose is described to be an important source of strand breaks in DNA.

Theory and simulation of DNA charge transfer: From junctions to networks
Article Abstract:
The study of dendrimers constructed from T-shaped double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) three-way junctions (3WJs) to address charge transfer within complex arrangements of nucleobases from a theoretical and numerical point of view is presented. The highly anistropic transport is found, and the corresponding rates are used to compute the global trapping kinetics on DNA dendrimers with a central absorbing core.
