Behavior of a thermotropic nematic liquid crystal confined to controlled pore glasses as studied by [super 129]Xe NMR spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
An investigation on the behavior of nematic liquid crystal (LC) Merck Phase 4 confined to controlled pore glass (CPG) materials is conducted using [super 129]Xe nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy of xenon gas dissolved in the LC. When pore diameter is small, smaller than ~150 angstrom, xenon experiences on average an isotropic environment inside the pore, and no nematic-isotropic phase transition is observed.

Reverse micelles dissolved in supercritical xenon: An NMR spectroscopic study
Article Abstract:
A procedure is presented for the preparation of high-pressure NMR samples containing reverse micelles dissolved in supercritical xenon. It is possible to apply NMR spectroscopy to reverse micelles in supercritical xenon.
