Bright UV-blue luminescent colloidal ZnSe nanocrystals
Article Abstract:
A method for generating highly luminescent ZnSe nanocrystals from organometallic precursors that have been nucleated and slowly grown in hot hexadecylamine/trioctylphosphine coordinating solvent is presented. Room-temperature optical absorption and luminescence, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy were used to characterized the resulting ZnSe nanocrystals. Results showed that the luminescence comes purely from the band edge and the quantum yields were between 20% to 50% relative to Stilbene 420.
