Characterization of anomalous flow and phase behavior in a Langmuir monolayer of 2-hydroxy-tetracosanoic acid
Article Abstract:
The results of experimental measurements of the viscoelastic behavior of the fatty acid 2-hydroxytetracosanoic acid (2-OH TCA) and X-ray measurements of the monolayer structure are reported. Two interesting behaviors, phase coexistence between the [L.sub.2h] and L2' phases over a large pressure range and a peak in the viscosity and elastic modulus of the material as a function of pressure are observed.

Influence of substrate treatment on self-organized pattern formation by Langmuir-Blodgett transfer
Article Abstract:
The influence of substrates on the pattern formation by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) transfer is examined by using silicon slides treated by different cleaning processes. The shift in the transfer pressure range for patterning is described with a model of equivalent states and also by considering the effect of microscale water films on the substrates.
