Characterization of titanium-silicon binary oxide catalysts prepared by the sol-gel method and their photocatalytic reactivity for the liquid-phase oxidation of 1-octanol
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize the preparation of titanium-silicon binary oxides supporting various titanium contents using the sol-gel technique. The catalyst was determined in dry air at 725 K while its photoluminescence spectra was obtained at 77 K using a Shimadzu RF-5000 spectrophotofluorometer. Experimental results indicated that decreases in the titanium content correlated with changes in the crystalline structure of the titanium oxides.

Mechanism of photoinduced superhydrophilicity on the TiO(sub 2) photocatalyst surface
Article Abstract:
The physiochemical properties of the H(sub 2)O molecules adsorbed on TiO(sub 2) surfaces during UV light irradiation were fully investigated. The photoinduced superhydrophilicity of TiO(sub 2) photocatalyst surfaces was found to originate by the desorption of H(sub 2)O molecules from TiO(sub 2) surfaces by the effect of heating from the photocatalytic decomposition under UV light irradiation.

A spectroscopic study of group IV transition metal incorporated direct templated mesoporous catalysts part 1: A comparison between materials synthesized using hydrophobic and hydrophilic Ti precursors
Article Abstract:
Titanium is incorporated into mesoporous silica using novel one-pot procedures based on the true liquid crystal templating (TLCT) synthesis method. It was demonstrated that the TLCT synthesis route could be used to incorporate Ti catalytic sites into the silica mesoporous products in a controllable way.
