Chemical and electrical passivation of single-crystal silicon(100) surfaces through a two-step chlorination/alkylation process
Article Abstract:
Single-crystal Si(100) surfaces are functionalized by using a two-step radical chlorination-Grignard alkylation method. All alkylated surfaces have exhibited mutually similar soft X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (SXP) spectra, indicating that these surfaces are primarily terminated with Si-alkyl, SiH and Si[H.sub.2] species and these surfaces have demonstrated robust charge-carrier lifetimes for periods approaching one year of exposure to air.

Photoinduced electron transfer in platinum (II) terpyridyl acetylide chromophores: reductive and oxidative quenching and hydrogen production
Article Abstract:
A probe of a range of luminescent platinum (II) terpyridyl acetylide complexes in context of excited-state quenching is conducted. It is observed that the platinum (II) terpyridyl acetylide chromophores show fast reductive quenching with triethanolamine (TEOA) and near diffusion-controlled oxidative quenching with M[V.sup.2+] and a series of diquats.
