Cholesterol location and orientation in aqueous suspension of large unilamellar vesicles of phospholipid revealed by intermolecular nuclear Overauser effect
Article Abstract:
The solution-state NMR method is used for studying the locational and orientational structure of cholesterol molecules and the cholesterol effects on the stiffness of the bilayer membrane in dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC). The dynamic slowdown at high cholesterol concentrations is shown on the basis of the correlation times for nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE) as well as the broadening of the proton linewidths.

Association and dissociation of nonpolar solutes in super-and subcritical water
Article Abstract:
The solvent-mediated part of the pair potential of mean force of methane in water with computer simulations over a wide range of thermodynamic conditions is investigated. The solvent effect on the association and dissociation of a pair of methane molecules is weakly dependent on the temperature when the density of solvent water is fixed is observed.

Dynamic and 2D NMR studies on hydrogen-bonding aggregates of cholesterol in low-polarity organic solvents
Article Abstract:
The aggregate formation among cholesterol molecules is revealed by [sup.1.H] and [sup.2.H] NMR solution-state self-diffusion and 1dimensional and 2 dimensional measurements. Cholesterol forms aggregates in the organic solvents that mimic the membrane bilayer hydrophobic core as chloroform and cyclohexane but it does not in 1-octanol.
