Chromyl chloride chemistry on the TiO2(110) surface
Article Abstract:
The extensive industrial applications of chromium have generated experiments describing its chemistry on the surface of titanium dioxide (TiO2). A study characterized the thermal-induced chemistry of chromyl chloride in the absence of coadsorbed water. Two clusters of separate ultrahigh vacuum chambers were examined. A strong and stable attachment of the chromium chloride to the TiO2 up to 500 K with a saturation level of 0.65 ML was observed. Meanwhile, the thermal reduction of the compound to Cr(II) was attributed to the oxidation of the n-doped TiO2(110) crystal.

Investigation of the adsorption of methanol on alkali metal cation exchanged zeolite X by inelastic neutron scattering
Article Abstract:
The combination of inelastic neutron scattering (INS) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is used to study the sorption structure of methanol on alkali metal cation exchanged faujasite (zeolite X) samples. The results indicate that more uniform and strongly hydrogen bonded sorption structure points to the formation of ring-like methanol structures on the samples.

Experimental investigation of the interaction of water and methanol with anatase-TiO(sub 2)(101)

Interaction of water and methanol was found to be different with anatase (101) and rutile (110). XPS results indicate a unique shift in the O 1s core level.
