Coil-globlue transition of DNA molecules induced by surfactants: A dynamic light scattering study
Article Abstract:
A study on the compaction and aggregation of DNA induced by cationic surfactants using dynamic light scattering (DLS) is presented. The result reveals that DNA undergoes a discrete conformation transition from an extended coiled state to a compacted globular one by the addition of cationic surfactants, with a region where the two populations coexists for intermediate concentrations of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide.

Phase behavior of a DNA-based surfactant mixed with water and n-alcohols
Article Abstract:
The self-assembly behavior of a cationic surfactant, dodecyltrimethylammonium (DTA), with DNA as counterion in mixtures of water and n-alcohols is investigated. The results have shown that there is the occurrence of a new isotropic phase with some properties analogous to those of the disordered sponge (L3) phase obtained for simple surfactant systems.

Colloidal systems with attractive interactions: Evaluation of scattering data using the generalized indirect Fourier transformation method
Article Abstract:
The study uses the generalized indirect Fourier transformation (GIFT) technique for the evaluation of static light scattering data from various attractively interacting systems. The GIFT method allows the simultaneous determination of the particle factor and the structure factor from the measured scattering intensities.
