Conservation of order, disorder, and crystallinity during anion-exchange reactions among layered double hydroxides (LDHs) of Zn with Al
Article Abstract:
Carbonate and chloride ions have mediated an ordered stacking of metal hydroxide slabs in order to yield ordered layered double hydroxides (LDHs) of Zn with Al. Conservation, elimination of stacking disorders during anion exchange is the net result of the orientation of the hydroxyl groups in the interlayer region, the symmetry of the interlayer sites, the symmetry of the incoming ion and the configuration of the anion.

Suppression of spinel formation to induce reversible thermal behavior in the layered double hydroxides (LDHs) of Co with Al, Fe, Ga and In
Article Abstract:
The suppression of the spinel formation on thermal decomposition of Co based layered double hydroxides (LDHs) in nitrogen has led to the formation of a metastable oxide with rock salt structure. The formation of this phase does not lead to the reconstruction of the LDH structure however the final phase formation is determined by relative thermodynamic stabilities of the LDHs and the spinel phases.

Thermally induced polytype transformations among the layered double hydroxides (LDHs) of Mg and Zn with Al
Article Abstract:
The hydrotalcite-like layered double hydroxide (LDH) of Mg with Al shows dramatic changes in the peaks arising from the (h0l)/(0kl) family of reflections in its powder X-ray diffraction pattern during thermal treatment. The LDH of Zn with Al does not undergo any such transformation, retaining the structure of the 3[R.sub.1] polytype until decomposition into the oxide residue.
