Ellipsometric study of the liquid/liquid interface in a phase-seperated colloid-polymer suspension

Article Abstract:

A new study investigates the interface in a phase-separated colloid-polymer suspension with ellipsometry. Interpretation of the data is discussed.

Crossover from preferential adsorption to depletion: aqueous systems of short-chain C(sub n)E(sub m) amphiphiles at liquid/liquid interfaces

Article Abstract:

The influence of a gradual change in the amphiphilicity of short-chain oligo-ethyleneglycol monoalkyl ethers C(sub n)E(sub m) on critical adsorption and incipient wetting of an inert liquid perfluoroalkane (F) substrate by the aqueous amphiphile phase (AW) near its upper miscibility gap is investigated.

Measurement of the interfacial tension of a phase-separated colloid-polymer suspension

Article Abstract:

The spinning drop and breaking thread techniques were used to investigate the interfacial tension between coexisting colloid-rich and polymer-rich fluid phases in demixed colloid-polymer. Results from the spinning drop method revealed that the interfacial tension increases as the density difference between the coexisting phases increases. Extrapolation of the interfacial tension measured with the breaking thread method yielded results that are in good agreement with spinning drop results.
