Crystal engineering on industrial diaryl pigments using lattice energy minimizations and X-ray powder diffraction
Article Abstract:
The crystal structures of the diaryl pigments Pigment Yellow 12 (PY12), Pigment Yellow 13 (PY130, Pigment Yellow 14 (PY14) and Pigment 83 (PY83) are determined from X-ray powder diagrams by using lattice energy minimizations and Rietveld refinements. The calculations on mixed crystals have indicated that mixed crystals of PY12 and PY13 have adopted the PY13 structure with planar molecules, thus resulting in high color strengths.

Intrachain photoluminescence dynamics of MEH-PPV in the solid state
Article Abstract:
The photoluminescence (PL) dynamics of poly[2-methoxy-5-(2'-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylene vinylene] (MEH-PPV) blended in polypropylene (PP) matrix is analyzed. The results have shown that the PL of MEH-PPV in the neat film has occurred at the site of interchain excitations through the interchain migration of excitons.
