Dependence fo the potential of zero charge of stepped platinum (111) electrodes on the oriented step-edge density: electrochemical implications and comparison with work function behavior
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the use of CO 'charge-displacement' measurements to evaluated the potential of zero charge of stepped platinum (111) electrodes are presented.

Thermodynamic analysis of the temperature dependence of OH adsorption on Pt(111) and Pt(100) electrodes in acidic media in the absence of specific anion adsorption
Article Abstract:
The effect of temperature on the voltammetric OH adsorption on Pt(111) and Pt(100) electrodes in perchloric acid media is analyzed. On Pt(111), the adsorption enthalpy ranges between -265 and -235 kJ/mol, becoming less exothermic as the OH coverage increases and the adsorption entropy ranges from -200 to -110 J/mol/K whereas, the enthalpy and entropy of hydroxyl adsorption on Pt(100) are less sensitive to coverage variations with values -280 kJ/mol and -180 J/mol/K, respectively.

Adsorbed nitric oxide and carbon monoxide as probes of Ir(100) interfacial structure
Article Abstract:
Voltammetry and in-situ infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy were used to examine the adsorption of carbon monoxide and nitric oxide on Ir(100) in acidic aqueous solutions. The ordered Ir(100) surface was produced by flame annealing and then cooled in a H2/Ar stream. Results showed that the vibrational properties of CO and NO are similar to those in ultrahigh vacuum. Moreover, the vibrational properties of CO is sensitive to the electrode potential and adsorbate coverage.
