Determination of the solid-state conformations of polyalanine using magic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to determine the solid-state conformations of polyalanine using magic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy. The characterization of the backbone conformations of the powder samples of poly-L-alanine was performed by 13C cross-polarization magic-angle spinning and 1H combined rotation and multiple pulse solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Results indicate that high-resolution solid-state NMR spectroscopy, at higher external magnetic fields with higher spinning speeds, would be useful in the structure determination of homopolypeptides.

How does an amide-(sub 15)N chemical shift tensor vary in peptides?
Article Abstract:
A study that addresses a void in the existing literature of the amide-(sub 15)N chemical shift anisotropy (CSA) tensor of peptides, which draws a systematic investigation of how the tensor varies in different peptides, is presented. The results revealed that the amide-(sub 15)N CSA tensor of a given tripeptide could be extrapolated to the same sequence in any other polypeptide, provided that the backbone conformations and intermolecular environment are equivalent.
