Direct observation of aminyl radical intermediate during single-crystal to single-crystal photoinduced Orton rearrangement
Article Abstract:
A photoinduced analogue of the thermal Orton rearrangement reaction by which an N-chlorine atom from a side amino group is transferred to a phenyl ring is analyzed in the solid state. Based on the change of the crystal structure and the physicochemical data, a three-center five-atom mechanism involving homolytic cleavage of the N-Cl bond followed by hydrogen abstraction by the carbonyl group is indicated for the solid-state photoinduced Orton rearrangement.

Multistate photochemical reaction dynamics of CINO in solution: an absolute resonance Raman intensity analysis study
Article Abstract:
The excited-state reaction dynamics of nitrosyl chloride (CINO) are studied using absolute resonance Raman intensity analysis. The analysis presented demonstrates that the photoexcitation of solution-phase CINO results in a substantial evolution of the N-Cl stretch coordinate consistent with the dissociation of the N-Cl bond.
