Dye sensitization of nanocrystalline titanium dioxide with osmium and ruthenium polypyridyl complexes
Article Abstract:
A series of osmium polypyridyl complexes having various ground-state reduction potentials are synthesized and used to sensitize nanoporous titanium dioxide electrodes to solar illumination, the responses of which are compared with the behavior of their ruthenium analogues. The osmium complexes appear to be promising candidates for further optimization in operating photoelectrochemical cells for solar energy conversion applications.

Self-assembled monolayers of ruthenium and osmium bis-terpyridine complexes-insights of the structure and interaction energies by combining scanning tunneling microscopy and electrochemistry
Article Abstract:
The self-assembled monolayers of [Ru(terpy)(terpy-py)](super 2+)] and [Os(terpy)(terpy-py)](super 2+)] salts on platinum were investigated by means of scanning tunneling microscopy STM and electrochemistry. The STM experiments reveal that the species within the monolayer are ordered in a hexagonal array.
