Dynamic light scattering and viscosity studies on the association behavior of silicone surfactants in aqueous solutions
Article Abstract:
The micellar structure of three nonionic amphiphilic silicone surfactants based on polyether-modified poly-(dimethylsiloxane) was investigated by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and viscosity measurements. The hydrodynamic radius, and the size distribution in terms of the translational diffusion coefficient of the micelles were obtained from the analysis of the time correlation function of the scattering intensity measured at a fixed scattering angle of 90degree and for different concentrations and temperatures.

Infrared spectroscopic investigation of the reaction of hydrogen-terminated, (111)-oriented, silicon surfaces with liquid methanol
Article Abstract:
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and first principles calculations are used to investigate the reaction of atomically smooth, hydrogen-terminated Si(111) (H-Si) surfaces with anhydrous liquid methanol. After 10 min of reaction at room temperature, a sharp absorbance feature are apparent at 1080 [cm.sup.-1] that is polarized normal to the surface plane.

Raman spectroscopic studies of silicotitanates
Article Abstract:
Raman spectroscopy is used to examine the vibrational behavior and the local structures of twelve silicotitanates. The relationship between Raman shifts and the local bonding configurations around silicon and titanium is proposed.
