Effect of phosvitin on the nucleation and growth of calcium phosphates in physiological solutions
Article Abstract:
The promoting effect of phosvitin on the nucleation of hydroxyapatite (HAP) and the inhibitory effect of phosvitin on the transformation from amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) to HAP were investigated. It was found that immobilized phosvitin greatly enhanced the nucleation of HAP with uniformly distributed precipitation, showing a simple contrast compared to the case in the absence of phosvitin that the nucleation took place only at some particular area.

Nature of cation mixing and ordering in Na-Ca silicate glasses and melts
Article Abstract:
(super 17)O magic angle spinning (MAS) and triple quantum magic angle spinning (3QMAS) NMR is used to show nonrandom distributions of the network-modifying cations Na and Ca in Ca-Na silicate glasses, by probing the atomic configuration around the nonbridging oxygens. Nonrandomness in Na-Ca mixing was observed in (super 17)O MAS and 3QMAS NMR where several nonbridging oxygen peaks such as Na-O-(super [4])Si, and mixed peaks are partially resolved.
