Effect of trehalose on alkaline transition of cytochrome-c
Article Abstract:
A study of alkaline transition of ferricytochrome-c in water and in water-trehalose solutions is carried out using two different techniques, namely, spectrophotometry in the region of the heme absorption spectrum and dielectric spectroscopy at radio frequencies. It is found that in water, spectrophotometry and dielectric spectroscopy probe the same transition in cytochrome, and in water-trehalose, basic pH conditions influence cytochrome only in local structural changes in the heme pocket.

On the rate distribution analysis of kinetic data using the maximum entropy method: applications to myoglobin relaxation on the nanosecond and femtosecond timescales
Article Abstract:
The application of the maximum entropy method (MEM) to the extraction of rate distributions from kinetics experiments on the nanosecond to femtosecond time scale is discussed. The MEM analysis of single wavelength pump-probe data on myoglobin has revealed the existence of at least three distinct rate processes, which are consistent with independent studies that employ continuum probe techniques.

Femtosecond multicolor pump: probe spectroscopy of ferrous cytochrome c
Article Abstract:
Cytochrome c (cyt c) is a member of the ubiquitous class of heme proteins, which function as reversible redox carriers in electron-transport chains. Ligand photolysis and subsequent electronic and structural relaxation, followed by ligand recombination, in ferrous cyt c is studied using ultrafast laser spectroscopy.
