Optical properties of Au-Ag nanoboxes studied by single nanoparticle spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Single particle spectroscopy was used to study the optical properties of two Au-Ag nanobox samples with average edge lengths of 4 and 58 nm and wall thicknesses of 6 and 8 nm, respectively. Results reveal that the observation of the broader line width for the larger 58-nm boxes is a consequence of the greater radiation damping in the concerned system.

Optical limiting of gold nanoparticle aggregates induced by electrolytes
Article Abstract:
The electronic absorption spectra and optical-limiting (OL) properties of gold nanoparticle (AuNP) aggregates induced by KCl and NaCl is investigated using 4.1-ns laser pulses at 532 nm. Mechanistic studies reveal that free-carrier absorption is the dominant contributor to the optical limiting, with negligible contribution from nonlinear scattering.
