Electrochemical characterization of nickel deposition on aromatic dithiol monolayers on gold electrodes
Article Abstract:
A study on electronic properties of pristine and cross-linked (CL) self assembled monolayers of [1,1';41,1"-terphenyl]-4,4"-dimethanethiol (TPDMT) on Au by electrochemical measurement including cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy is conducted. The results show that the TPDMT and CL-TPDMT films is found to be insulators that effectively blocked the ionic permeation of electrolyte preventing direct access of the ions to the Au electrode.

Photophysical behavior of variously sized colloidal gold clusters capped with monolayers of an alkylstilbenethiolate
Article Abstract:
Trans-4 stilbene was capped as a monolayer on colloidal gold clusters of diameters ranging from 1.4 to 5.2 nm. The resulting shell-core nanostructured composite showed emission from the metal and the appended arena. Differential surface area, rather than gold cluster size per se accounted for the observed decrease in fluorescence intensity of excited stilbene moiety upon shrinking the metal core size.
