Electron paramagnetic resonance of high-T(sub c) superconducting composites YBa2Cu(sub 3-x)ScxO(6plus minus(delta))

Article Abstract:

A study of the EPR spectra of high-T(sub c) superconducting composites with the formula YBa2Cu(sub 3-x)ScxO(6.5plumn(delta)) over the temperature range 300-77 K is reported, where it is revealed that the unusually large-scale substitution of Sc(super 3+) for Cu(super 2+) leads to high-T(sub c)superconducting material with paramagnetic phases that are well resolved above T(sub c). Results indicate that the paramagnetic signal over T(sub c) corresponds to the impurity phases and the EPR signal recorded below T(sub c) for x=0.8-1.1, may be due to the dominance of the spinelike Ba(CuSc)O(sub 3.5) phase.

High-affinity binding site for copper(II) in human and dog serum albumins (an EPR study)

Article Abstract:

A novel approach in evaluating the high-affinity binding site for copper in human and dog serum albumin was developed. The proposed approach, based on the form of a well-characterized histidine, has been proven to be effective in reducing the interaction at the lower affinity sites. It has been shown that the integration of copper with human serum albumin leads to the creation of a complex with an alpha NH2 terminal and an imadazole nitrogen of histidine3 that follows a square planar form.

Role of radicals and singlet oxygen in photoactivated DNA cleavage by the anticancer drug camptothecin: an electron paramagnetic resonance study

Article Abstract:

This study presents an experiment performed by spectroscopy of irradiated camptothecin in the presence and absence of copper. Camptothecin is an anticancer drug and is also effective in the treatment of gastric, rectum and bladder tumors.
