Electronic and chemical properties of nanostructured cerium dioxide doped with praseodymium
Article Abstract:
The surface properties of nanostructured ceria doped with praseodymium are studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, secondary ion mass spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of adsorbed carbon monoxide. The analysis contributes to the detailed clarification of the structural, electronic, and chemical properties of doped nanostructure ceria and points out the correlations of the electronic properties with important characteristics for catalytic applications.

A combined quantum chemical statistical mechanical simulation of the hydration of Li+, Na+, F-, and Cl-
Article Abstract:
Using a combined quantum chemical statistical mechanical mode, the hydration (or solvation) of the lithium, fluoride, and chloride ions are investigated. Induced dipoles and inductions energies of the hydrate ions are also reported.
