Electronic structure of Cob(I)alamin: The story of an unusual nucleophile

Article Abstract:

The electronic structure and the ligand-field spectrum of cobalt(I) corrin using complete active space multiconfiguration perturbation theory (CASPT2) used for inconsistencies and the nature of the cobalt(I) "supernucleophile", cob(I)alamin is addressed. The result reveals fascinating degree of covalency between cobalt and the nitrogen based orbitals, by bonding and antibonding orbital pair of a cobalt d-orbital and a delta-orbital linearly combined from nitrogen orbitals.

Analysis of energy level structure and excited-state dynamics in a Sm(super 3+) complex with soft-donor ligands: Sm(Et2Dtc)3(bipy)

Article Abstract:

A detailed analyses of crystal-field energy level structure and excited-state dynamics of Sm(super 3+) in the mixed ligand crystal of Sm(Et2Dtc)3(bipy) based on experimental data from absorption, laser excitation, and fluorescence measurements is conducted. The analyses have provided insights into the electronic and chemical properties of f-elements in the series of soft-ligand compounds that are currently lacking fundamental understanding.

The composition and structure of Pd-Au surfaces

Article Abstract:

The composition, electronic properties and structure of Pd-Au alloy surfaces were determined by low energy ion scattering spectroscopy (LEISS), infrared absorption spectroscopy (IRAS), temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The surface concentration of isolated Pd monomers can be systematically controlled by altering the bulk Pd-Au alloy concentration on Mo(110).
