Electroreflectance study of hemin adsorbed on a HOPG electrode: estimation of molecular orientation and analysis of nonfaradaic electroreflectance signal due to the stark effect
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the structural and spectroelectrochemical properties of 0.03mM of hemin adsorbed on the surface of a highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) electrode in a 0.1M Na2B4O7 solution. Cyclic voltammogram and electroreflectance (ER) spectroscopic analyses of the samples were performed. The faradaic and nonfaradaic ER responses to polarized light were also analyzed. The adsorbed hemin settled flat on the HOPG electrode surface at an angle of 70-80 degrees. The data indicate that hemin orientation is not affected by changes in electrode potential.

Azurin self-assembled monolayers characterized by coupling electrical impedance spectroscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry
Article Abstract:
A combined study of azurin monolayers deposited on both bare and hexadecanethiol-covered gold surfaces carried out by coupling two independent techniques, in situ electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and ex situ spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) is presented. It is concluded that azurin forms a less dense layer when it is deposited on thiol-covered gold compared of the protein layer in the adsorption on bare gold.
