Etching and aging effects in nanosize Au clusters investigated using high-resolution size-exclusion chromatography
Article Abstract:
Experiments using high-resolution size exclusion chromatography (HRSEC), dynamic light scattering, and transmission electron microscopy are conducted to investigate the effects of aging of Au nanoclusters in the presence of surfactant ligands. It is observed that contrary to the expectation that aging in solution will always broaden the size dispersion and increase the average size (Ostwald ripening), a narrowing of the size dispersion and change in average size can occur with time under ambient conditions.

Sintering of alkanethiol-capped gold and platinum nanoclusters
Article Abstract:
The experiments were done where alkanethiol-functionalized Au and Pt nanoclusters were synthesized and their temperatures measured by using capacitance technique to determine the onset of film conductivity. The results show that the large optical absorbance of nanocluster films make laser sintering a practical method for the formation of metallization layers.

Chemical and optical properties of CdSe and CdSe/ZnS nanocrystals investigated using high-performance liquid chromatography
Article Abstract:
A study on the CdSe and CdSe/ZnS semiconductor nanocrystals of various sizes is carried out by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution size-exclusion chromatography (HRSEC), and x-ray fluorescence (XRF). HRSEC results show that size fractionation by solvent/nonsolvent precipitation is only partially effective in size selection.
