Examination of the photoreaction of p-nitrobenzoic acid on electrochemically roughened silver using surface-enhanced Raman imaging (SERI)
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the photoreaction of p-nitrobenzoic acid on electrochemically roughened silver using surface-enhanced Raman imaging (SERI), which is chemically selective and can be used under ambient conditions. Two types of samples were prepared, one wherein the compound was uniformly adsorbed and the other in which there was combined monolayer plus crystallites. Results indicate that the combination of the SERS technique with micro-Raman imaging offers high sensitivity together with spatially resolved chemical information and versatility.

Photoinduced dislocation lines on the (111) face of C60 single crystals
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze photoinduced dislocation lines on the (111) face of C60 singles crystals using atomic force microscopy. The crystals were prepared by the improved descending-temperature vapor-phase technique. The crystal surfaces were then imaged in the dark and under illumination. Experimental results indicated that different types of dynamic features correlated with the different growth rates of the substructures.

Enhancement of superconductive shielding via photoinduced surface modification
Article Abstract:
The photoinduced enhancement of superconducting fullerides is studied. Results show that the diamagnetic shielding fraction is significantly enhanced by the photoinduced modification of the near-surface region of K3C60 samples. Prior to illumination, diamagnetism was observed in roughly 10 vol % of the K3C60 quenched samples. Following illumination, diamagnetic shielding fractions of about 100 vol % were obtained.
