GERMANY: AURO COLOURS BECOME MORE NATURAL

The German company Auro AG of Brunswick is to convert its product range from natural solvents to water-based products by May 2001. Rather than acrylate resins, the company uses natural raw materials. The new products developed by the company are based on new emulsifier systems that yield water-soluble but water-resistant colours. The first new products are to be launched in July 2000.

GERMANY: MORE SOLVENT-FREE COATINGS
Article Abstract:
Since 1991, the share of low-solvent and solvent-free products in the German latex paint and plaster markets has risen from 41.6% to 49.3%. According to the central statistics office, the production of such products increased from 644,098 tonnes to 1.137mn tonnes. Altogether the production of coatings in Germany rose from 1.548mn tonnes to 2.306mn tonnes.
