GERMANY: STARCK DIVESTS OBRA IN MBO

In Germany, Goslar-based Hermann C. Starck GmbH & Co. KG has sold the operative business of Chemische Fabriken Oker und Braunschweig AG (OBRA) of Goslar to the latter's management. Under the new name Oker-Chemie GmbH and with the 36 staff, the company will concentrate on drying agents and paper chemicals. OBRA's product range has included also water treatment chemicals. In 1999 the company generated a turnover of DM 17mn.

GERMANY: HENKEL DIVESTS PAPER CHEMICALS
Article Abstract:
Cognis, the chemicals arm of German Henkel, is divesting its remaining paper additives interests within a management buyout. The new owners are backed by the Stockholm-based company Nordic Capital. The paper additives business employs 120 staff and has production plants in Germany, the UK, Spain and Norway. It generates an annual turnover of about DM 100mn, mainly in western Europe and Asia. Henkel divested its American paper additives business in 1996.

GERMANY: DSM GIVES UP POLYPENCO
Article Abstract:
The Dutch chemicals group DSM has sold its German subsidiary Polypenco Kunststofftechnik GmbH to Polytron Kunststofftechnik. Both companies are based in Bergisch Gladbach. The German plastics processing subsidiary of DSM employs 120 staff.
