Heat-treated Fe/N/C catalysts for O3 electroreduction: Are active sites hosted in micropores?
Article Abstract:
The activation process of carbon black and iron acetate heat-treated in NH3 comprises of the incorporation of nitrogen atoms in the carbon, micropore formation through reaction between carbon and ammonia and completion of active sites in the micropores by reaction of iron with ammonia. This helps in determining the structure of the active sites and in identifying methods to increase the site density of such catalysts.

Oxygen reduction catalysts for polymer electrolyte fuel cells from the pyrolysis of iron acetate adsorbed on various carbon supports
Article Abstract:
Nonnoble metal catalysts for the electrochemical reduction of oxygen in acidic medium are produced by adsorbing iron(II) acetate on 19 carbon supports. It is observed that the choice of carbon support has a large impact on the activity of the nannoble metal catalysts.
