Homogeneous spectrally- and time-resolved fluorescence emission from single-trytophan mutants of IIA(super Glc) protein
Article Abstract:
A criterion for distinguishing between homogeneous and heterogeneous time-resolved fluorescence emission of tryptophan residues in proteins was experimentally tested and the microscopic dielectric response function in two proteins, where long-lived or permanent heterogeneity is absent, was measured. Results indicate that the fluorescence emission from the single-tryptophan mutants E21W and F3W of the IIA(super Glc) protein were free from permanent and long-lived heterogeneity and significant variation in the dielectric response could be caused due to the addition of glycerol.

Solvation dynamics in the molten globule state of a protein
Article Abstract:
The solvation dynamics in the molten globule state of GlnRS is studied using both a covalent probe and a noncovalent probe, bisanilinosulfonate. It is demonstrated that the solvation dynamics in the molten globule state of GlnRS is quite slow.
