Hydration process and interaction configurations of embedded H2O molecules
Article Abstract:
A study has been conducted to determine the main interaction configurations that embedded H2O molecules adopt in resins. Two amine-cured epoxy resins were used to facilitate the monitoring of hydration processes using infrared spectrometry. H2O molecules are not easily observable in polymers since it is extremely difficult to localize small and versatile molecules as these can rapidly change their interactions with neighboring molecules. Irradiation has been found to have a distinct effect on hydration kinetics.

A new approach to the IR spectroscopic study of molecular orientation and packing in adsorbed monolayers. Orientation and packing of long-chain primary amines and alcohols on quartz
Article Abstract:
The study objective is to develop a 'DR fitting' approach for the IR reflection-absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS) spectra and to test it on the molecular orientation (MO) measurements on primary ion-chain (C16) amine and alcohol adsorbed on quartz. This method is based on fitting of the dichroic ratio by the theoretical values calculated with the linear approximation formulas.

Time scales for quenching single-bubble sonoluminescence in the presence of alcohols
Article Abstract:
The rate at which single-bubble sonoluminescence is quenched in the presence of alcohol is examined, and single-bubble sonoluminescence bubbles are generated in a partially degassed-argon-water/alcohol mixture. Quenching requires the repetitive injection of alcohol molecules, which leads to the accumulation of gaseous products within the bubbles.
