Hydrocarbon sensing mechanism of surface ruthenated tin oxide: an in situ IR, ESR, and adsorption kinetics study
Article Abstract:
The conductivity changes involved in the sensing mechanism of surface ruthenated tin oxide toward butane are explained using infrared spectroscopy (IR), electron spin resonance spectroscopy (ESR) and adsorption kinetics study. Results of the ESR studies indicate that the butane preferentially adsorbs on the Ru sites, whereas the IR studies determine the nature of the adsorbed species.

Effect of chain length and the nature of the monolayer on the electrical behavior of hydrophobically organized gold clusters
Article Abstract:
The electronic properties of an array of monolayer-protected gold nanoclusters (ca. 4.8 +- 0.5 nm) are studied with the variation of chain length and molecular structure of the passivating organic molecules. The results demonstrate that the length of the organic molecule and its molecular structure along with core size plays a crucial role in controlling Coulomb blockade behavior.

Solvent-assisted one-pot synthesis and self-assembly of 4-aminothiophenol-capped gold nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
A single step process for the synthesis and self-assembly of ca. 3nm gold nanoparticles by 4-aminothiophenol (ATP) in water -DMF is demonstrated. The results indicate the involvement of both ithiol and amine groups in the reduction of AuCl(super -) ions, which simultaneously compete for attachment on the surface of gold nanoparticles.
