In situ scanning tunneling microscopy of underpotential deposition of lead on CU(100) in sulfuric acid solutions
Article Abstract:
The underpotential deposition (UPD) of lead at Cu(100) electrode in 0.1 M sulfuric acid containing 1mM Pb(ClO(sub 4))(sub 2) is examined by using an in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Efficient mass transport and high surface mobility of Cu(100) at 0.05V in sulfuric acid solution was found in the real-time STM imaging.

In situ scanning tunneling microscopy of underpotential deposition of copper at Pt(100) electrodes coated with an iodine monolayer
Article Abstract:
In situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) results of underpotential deposition (UPD) of copper at an iodine-modified Pt(100) electrode are reported. The cyclic voltammograms reveal that an iodine adlayer strongly adsorbed on Pt(100) resulted in a 350 mV delay of Cu deposition with respect to that of a bare Pt(100) electrode.
